What Nicotine is Right for Me?

nicotine is right

Congratulations, you've made the right choice in deciding to use regulated nicotine and vaping! We couldn't be happier. Now, if you've never done this before, choosing what nicotine is right for you will introduce new terms, new things to think about and new decisions to make. But rest assured, we're going to break it all down and make it as simple as possible for you to find what nicotine is right for you!

new terms for you to learn

It’s very easy to get lost when you’re first trying to find what nicotine is right. There are new words, acronyms and terms that you’ve never heard or seen before that make such a difference to your experience.

We’re going to break them down now so they don’t seem so scary and so that you can easily understand them and make your choice as to what nicotine is right for you.

  • PG – Propylene Glycol a thin, odourless and flavourless liquid who’s main job is to carry the flavour of the eJuice. PG also assists vapers that are after a pronounced throat hit
  • VG – Vegetable Glycerin is the thicker of the two main ingredients in eJuice and is responsible for a mild throat hit and big, fluffy clouds
  • Throat Hit – this is the description of feeling a slight scratchy sensation in the back of your throat. If you’re coming from cigarettes, this is the sensation you’re looking for
  • Freebase – this is a type of nicotine that is smoother and more etherial in its operation. Freebase won’t give you as much of a throat hit as Nic Salts will
  • Nic Salts – again, a type of nicotine that provides a stronger throat hit. They are absorbed quicker than freebase and are great for ex-smokers
  • Mouth-to-Lung – as it sounds, is the way you vape. You’ll draw into your mouth, then inhale
  • Direct-to-Lung – a type of vaping, this is drawing as you inhale, directly to your lungs

so, what nicotine is right?

This is a choice made directly by you. No one can tell you that 50:50 PG Freebase nicotine is the right one (for example) if you’re coming from being a Winfield Red pack a day smoker. As, that would be wrong. You’ll need to have a think about how you smoke, how you experience the nicotine and what’s more important to you.

For instance, I smoked Winfield Blue (or 12mg) for over 10-years. Now, I vape 3-4mg of Freebase nicotine in a VG rich eJuice from a sub-ohm vape kit and that’s perfect; for me.

The best advice to be given here is to experiment, and also to note that you’ll need to be mixing whatever nicotine is right at a lower level. For instance, if I mixed 12mg into my eJuice, I’d cough and splutter all over the place – it’d be way too strong. Remember, when mixing, you can always add more but you can’t take away!
